Register Now - Indigenous Legal Issues 2023 Recap

Don't miss out and register now for our complimentary Willms & Shier Environmental Lawyers Webinar Series!

Our tenth webinar of the year is titled: Indigenous Legal Issues 2023 Recap. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm via Zoom.

We have seen considerable activity around Indigenous Legal Issues/Aboriginal Law and natural resources in 2023. With government commitment to reconciliation, further developments in natural resource co-management regimes and as UNDRIP is implemented, we expect to see more activity in this space.

In this webinar, Julie Abouchar, Charles Birchall, Carl McKay, and Amanda Spitzig will:

  • provide an update on recent case law that builds on the duty to consult, co-management, Aboriginal rights, and treaty interpretation.
  • survey actions to implement UNDRIP federally and in the Northwest Territories,
  •  review the key drivers behind developments in Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas, and
  • consider how Impact Benefit Agreements and regulatory mechanisms support Indigenous participation in projects.
